Summer School 2011: Marketing with Social Media

The impact of social media on society in general and especially on business and marketing is a topic of increasing importance. It is claimed that the revolution in Egypt this year was supported by the use of social media. Revolutionary developments are also visible in the business environment. Social networks highly influence the consumer behavior of people.
How should organizations react to these developments? Is it a hype or is it of structural influence on the way organizations communicate with their stakeholders?
The summer school marketing with social media enable you to understand the impact of social media on organizations, to use the different social media tools, and to plan the use and implement social media in an organization.
The summer school will be organized in Treuchtlingen, Germany, from August 14 to August 28, 2011. It is open for students and young professionals who want to learn the ins and the outs of social media.

Chinese delegation visits IUNamsterdam campus

On July 26, 2010, a delegation from Shaoxing University visited the IUNamsterdam campus. The delegation was led by Professor Tao Kan, Vice-President of the Shaoxing University. Shaoxing is located not far from Shanghai and the university has around 12.000 students in different programs.

The delegation spent two hours exchanging ideas with the IUNamsterdam campus director, Mr. Jacco Stolker. The purpose of the visit was the exchange of ideas about innovative education. The educational approach of IUNworld, mother organization of IUNamsterdam has been discussed in detail.
The delegation showed especially interest in working with competency based education and education as an experience. Besides that, ideas about cooperation in research projects was on the agenda. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Tao Kan expressed his wish to send several of his lecturers to Amsterdam or Germany in order to be trained in all aspects of innovative education.

We are sure that this visit is the beginning of further cooperation between the two institutions.


New Master Program: Educational Management

The IUN Graduate School launches a new European Master program in Educational Management in cooperation with the University of Applied Management Erding, the Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy (Latvia), the Private University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz (Austria) and the Private University Seeburg Castle in Salzburg (Austria).
The 2-year joint degree program is open for teachers, principals, staff members of educational institutions, ministries and other organizations in the educational sector looking for a high-quality and application-oriented management program.

Our first MBA group enjoyed returning to the Seeburg Castle for an alumni workshop. They were welcomed by some of their former professors and the former mayor of Seekirchen, Mr. Spatzenegger, who has been a big fan of the university since its founding and enjoys taking students on hiking trips around the beautiful lake Wallersee.
